CATFISH: THE TV SHOW is a trip down the rabbit hole of online relationships, an unpredictable hall of mirrors where things are never what they seem. From bogus profile pics and wholesale alter egos to heartfelt longing and deep personal secrets, CATFISH unravels the range of deceptions and emotions that can surround romances forged solely in technology. Each week, hosts NEV and MAX bring couples together for face-to-face meetings after long periods of computer canoodling – and the result is never less than a total surprise. For Nev Schulman, it's personal. The star of the documentary that started it all, Nev himself was the victim of a catfish – and, as a result, became a poster boy for 21st century relationships. Deluged with emails from people in situations just like him, Nev – along with his filmmaker buddy Max - set out to help others uncover the core truths behind idealized avatars. Like a pair of digital detectives, Nev & Max use their laptops for good – to penetrate the walls of façade that can exist in a digital maze. From good looks to good schools, jobs to genders, all things may not be what they appear. But in the end, is our hopeful getting intimate with a person who really cares for them, or a person with a hidden agenda? Or something in-between? Whether it's true love or true lies, in every episode Nev and Max navigate the twists and turns of technology that both bond and separate these people from each other. Along the way, the duo's mix of empathy, charm and humor help us all understand our need for each other and our need for attention. CATFISH is an unprecedented look at our attempts to make contact in a digital world where anything's possible – like becoming someone else.

4A better reality show  Oct 27, 2014 By the pix
I don't care for reality shows, in general, but I've read about the genuine way in which this show is produced and I think that comes thru in the finished product. Nev and Max are fun to watch and IMO, very likeable. Every show contains a surprise, and I can't wait til Season 3 becomes included with Prime!!

5Hooked  Nov 05, 2014 By Jan
Catfish as a television show is even better than the movie because you know what to expect and are still shocked to see what happens. This show is awesome in revealing lies on the Internet and human emotions when people meet face-to-face. It's fun to see Nev and Max play off of each other as friends or even like brothers.

5Such a twist  Sep 09, 2013 By Kat from Cali
Season 2 is amazing and i bought some episodes to catch up. They were so crazy, left me at the edge of my seat. Online relationships are tricky, but its possible. Definitely my favorite show from MTV.

4I'm sucha sucker for this show!  Feb 13, 2015 By TeaCee
I'm not a big fan of overly dramatized reality shows, but I will say this one has me addicted! A lot of the comments are dead-on about most of the episodes being predominately the same story line and plot, but with each person's story you really get a feel for the "why" people do this, and each one has a different motivating factor. The psychology of the show is incredibly interesting. Personally, I feel that Nev and Max are very gentle, but vigilant in handling these "cases". Nev has a unique insight and can truly help, not only the people involved on the show, but all the viewers that watch, as well. I, for one, have learned A LOT! My favorite guilty pleasure about this show, to be honest, is watching Max, though. I may just be dreaming, but I feel this is true reality tv and Max's facial expressions totally prove it, in my book! I swear we have the exact same look on our faces when things are discovered, or revealed. :) And I love the dynamics between Nev and Max. For every one of Nev's pipe-dream comments and fantasies, there's Max to bring in the harsh realities. I just love it! (But I do also love Nev's optimistic view on life).
I only deducted the star for the fact that Amazon has some issues with the watchability of some of the episodes. I don't understand how the "content wasn't released to view" for an episode that falls right in the middle of the season? So you want us to believe that the rights were released for EVERY other episode, just not this one or two? Just what is so special about these episodes? I would love it, Amazon, if you would let us find out!
