| | Description | The Hard Times Of RJ Berger orbits the hilariously-hellish lives of a deeply unpopular 15 year-old (Paul Iacono) and his scheming; sex-obsessed best friend; Miles Jenner (Jareb Dauplaise). Other than pining after the girl of his dreams; Jenny Swanson (Amber Lancaster); receiving daily beatings from the meanest jock in school; Max Owens (Jayson Blair); and evading the stalker-ish advances of Lily Miran (Kara Taitz); there really isn't much excitement in RJ's life. That is; until his anatomical gift is accidentally exposed to the entire school.
In a single moment; RJ goes from anonymous to infamous; and for the first time in his life; he feels a tiny sliver of confidence. Swept up in this man-sized wave of recognition; we'll watch RJ claw his way out of the popularity basement. Whether it's trying to get laid; dealing with his bizarre parents; or simply navigating the treacherous waters of sophomore year; RJ will live out the stories -- good; bad and ugly -- that we all remember from high school. One mis-adventure at a time; we'll see him grow from a shy; awkward boy into a slightly less shy and awkward young man. Part The Wonder Years and part Superbad; The Hard Times Of RJ Berger is a loud; funny; raunchy; sexy look at the life of lovable loser.

Lost a bit from Season 1 Sep 28, 2011
By dontkickthebaby Season 2 of RJ Berger pulls you right back into some extremely uncomfortable situations: --Your mother over-hearing you having trouble unclasping your girlfriend's bra -- and shouting advice from the kitchen as to how to get those "muffins out of the oven while they're still hot." --The dumpiest-looking girl in the school sharing her sexual fantasies with you. And, of course, her sexual fantasies star you.
Like in Season 1, the dialog is fast, furious and hilarious. Several times it made me burst out laughing at volumes that surprised me. This show is a riot.
It's a riot that still has its sweet side, a certain charm that balances out all the edginess. Too bad RJ Berger never found its audience. It was truly one of a kind. But the laughs were less frequent this second time around, and it lost its way for a couple episodes, one of which guest-starred one of the kooks from Jersey Shore. When you need to use Jersey Shore to pull up your ratings, well, that's a good indication that the curtain is falling.
That said, the episode guest-starring Paris Hilton was one of the all-time funniest sit-com episodes.
As Good As Season 2! Disappointed That There Was No Season 3.. Oct 08, 2012

"The Art of War"
NO SPOILERS:
Laugh out loud funny. Yes, one has to suspend logic to believe that "Price is Right" Model Amber Lancaster is in HS. As in season 1, the humor is vulgar and laced with sexual overtones. This type of humor is rare on US TV (outside of premium cable). If you like the following UK programs: "The Inbetweeners", "Misfits", "Beaver Falls" and "Fresh Meat". You will like "RJ Berger"

I love the hard times of rj berger, unfortunately it came on MTV. Which of course mean dvd's have no subtitles. Can't see it anywhere with subs, even netflix, at least not for season 2 yet. Maybe they will add it one day. In the meantime my only way to see it is download badly timed subs off the internet that are are more hassle than their worth. I don't see why MTV can't just put the subs on the disc. They already have them because they are required by law to have them when broadcasting on the television, but they can't even laser a few words on these things? It sucks that MTV doesn't care about the deaf community. But definitely watch RJ if you can hear. You won't regret it, it's a great show. Plus, Jenny Swanson. What other reason do you need? lol
Great show, great season finale Jul 25, 2012
By Michael I think this show is hilarious, and this episode was a good end to the season. The end is a little surprising and dark, but again, hilarious.
The zaniest show on MTV returns for season 2 Oct 08, 2011
By None-of-a-kind Picking up from the season 1 cliff hanger, the hard times of RJ Berger season 2 returns for more hilarious insanity. Described as Wonder years meets American Pie; The Hard Times Of RJ Berger is an hilarious and original comedy. From the first episode to the season finale; season 2 is filled with surprises throughout. From "accidentally" eating L.S.D. filled cookies to a sweet 16 party from hell the laughs never stop. The good natured RJ who is too nice to say no gets caught up in the schemes of everyone whether it's from his cousin, "Vinnie" from the jersey shore or the horrible advice of his best friend miles or his street wise guidance counselor "Coach Sinclair" it's bound to be season you won't soon forget. If You enjoyed season 1 your going to want to pick up season 2 as well.
